91/100 Drink 2010 - 2022 Another sleeper of the vintage for this property that has been doing impressive work over recent vintages, the 2004 (a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot) displays a dark ruby/purple color along with classic aromas of cedar, creme de cassis, earth, spice, and wood. Medium to full-bodied, ripe, long, and impressively endowed, it should be at its peak between 2010-2022. 16.5/20 Drink 2015-28 A bit broader than stablemate Carruades on the nose but not very giving. A bit stodgy. Quite inky and impenetrable. A low key, stolid vintage for Duhart rather than the dramatic success of some recent years – quite fine tannins and fruit pushed to maximum ripeness. Not especially expressive. Very well mannered, with quite a bit of acidity but just a bit dull at the moment. 85-87/100 Again, a muted plummy nose with a touch of liquorice. Lacks a little definition and poise. The palate has a very soft entry, supple texture though the mid-palate lacks some stuffing. Linear finish. Never really takes off. Tasted April 2005. |

Acquired in 1962 by the Rothschild family, owners of the famous neighbouring Lafite estate, this chateau had a reputation for producing hard wines – perhaps in honour of the corsair who once owned the estate in the 17th century and gave it his name. A "twin" of Lafite by virtue of its planting of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes, as well as by its methods of vinification and ageing, Duhart Milon naturally takes its place among the appellation's great wines.
