HAUT BAILLY

Robert Parker

93/100 Drink 2010 - 2024

The 2004 Haut-Bailly is a candidate for the finest wine of the appellation. Its dark ruby/purple color is accompanied by classic aromas of scorched earth, sweet black currants, cherries, and a hint of pain grille. Light on its feet, but substantially flavored, it possesses stunning purity, good acidity, ripe tannin, and abundant flavor as well as length. It builds incrementally and subtly in the mouth, but it’s the real deal. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2024.

Jancis Robinson

17.5 Drink 2012-18

Neat, lively, well-focussed nose. Bright fruit, definitely Graves. Fine tannins. Quite vibrant; should not surely be reproached for being ‘only’ medium weight.

Neal Martin

92/100 Drink 2012 - 2030

A lucid garnet colour with deep crimson rim. A very tightly coiled, but pure nose of black cherries, minerals, a hint of hot bricks and olives. Good definition. The palate is medium-bodied, not complex or ambitious, yet is beautifully balanced and refined. Great acidity and precision with a vibrant, focused, tense finish. Cherry, blueberry and a touch of cedar. Excellent length for a 2004, this is certainly one of the best wines of the vintage. Drink 2012-2030. Tasted September 2007.
