95/100 Drink 2009 - 2022 This 7,500-case blend of 62% Merlot and 38% Cabernet Franc is one of the strongest wines of the vintage. A deep blue/purple hue is accompanied by classic aromas of smoky blueberries and blackberries as well as incense and floral notes in the background. A beautiful texture, opulence, flamboyance, and purity characterize this stunningly deep, full-bodied effort, another great success from proprietor Hubert de Bouard. 17 Drink 2013-25 This wine with over 40 per cent Cabernet Franc was picked in various, unhurried stages between 30 sep and 15 oct. Amazingly deep purple. Good, sappy nose – really meaty. Savoury edge – almost like Italian wine with marked tannins. Very energetic and fresh. Brisk. Round but with lots of fine, sandy tannins. Cool. Not that long. 13.9 per cent alcohol. Hubert Boüard de Laforest claims this is one of the four or five best vintages he has ever made. 94-96/100 Drink 2010 - 2025"A muscular Angelus with long-term potential" I wrote at en primeur. Then at the vertical Angelus tasting in May-05. Great definition on the nose - much better than the 2003. Black fruit, mint and minerals. Quite fresh. Fine tannins on the palate - it reminds me of the 2001 in some ways. Very concentrated but the poise and harmony are all there. Superb, and much better than the 2003. |

| ANGELUS St Emilion GC - 2006 1er Cru Classé "B" - 186.00 € | |||
A mere kilometre from the famous bell-tower at Saint Emilion, on its famous south facing "pied de côte" (foot of the hill), Château Angélus is the story of the passionate involvement of the last four generations of the Boüard de Laforest family. The estate derived its name from a particularly ancient plot of vineyard, from which the men tending the vines were able to hear the Angelus ringing out from all three of the village churches, Chapelle de Mazerat, the Church of Saint Martin de Mazerat and the Church of Saint Emilion.The location of this top quality vineyard is truly exceptional – right in the heart of the Right Bank, close to the borders of the famous Plateau of Pomerol and not far from Saint Emilion.
The La Fleur de Boüard vineyard combines the magic of land, vines and sky. Managed by a man of great viticultural tradition, whose family has, over seven generations, carefully fine-tuned their viticultural expertise – combining savoir-faire with innovation and dedication – promising an exciting future for this vineyard. Hubert de Boüard de Laforest is the co-owner of Château Angélus, a First Great Classified Growth of Saint Emilion. He graduated as an from Bordeaux University as oenologist and for the past 20 years has managed the estate and made the wines. Together with his wife, Corinne, they work passionately towards one single aim: to make an outstanding wine at La Fleur de Boüard.
